Our Guide to What is on this Weekend if you’re not at Electric Picnic

It’s a little bit quieter in Laois this weekend with the majority of activity happening at the largest music festival of the year, Electric Picnic happening in Stradbally.

We are looking forward to welcoming 55,000 picnickers to Laois. The Downtown Portlaoise team and the local businesses have really got in the festival spirit and the town is looking amazing. Let’s show everyone a wonderful warm Laois welcome.

THURSDAY AUGUST 29

Slieve Bloom Guided Walk
The Slieve Bloom Walking Club’s next guided walk is a Emo Court walk. This walk is a Grade C, 8km walk and takes 2-3 hours. Meeting point is Emo Village Entrance at 7pm. €5 per walk or €20 annual membership (€30 for family). For more information see www.slievebloom.ie.

Electric Picnic

SATURDAY AUGUST 31

Dumbo – Family Cinema – Dunamaise Arts Centre

The all-new grand live-action adventure, Dumbo tells a beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight.

Built and Natural Heritage Walk Vicarstown

Come along to this walk and talk session where Séan, the society Chairperson, will explore the natural and built heritage of the area surrounding the canal at Vicarstown, Co. Laois. Picnic and refreshments will be provided along the way.

Meeting at Creans Pub Vicarstown at 2pm – 4.30pm on Saturday 31st. The0 walk will be along the Grattan Aqueduct to the Camac Aqueduct which is approximately 3km.
