Portlaoise’s good pre-season form continued on Saturday evening when they ran in four tries to get the better of Newbridge.

This followed on from their big recent win over Athy and is ideal preparation ahead of the new league season.

First-half tries from Darragh McAuley and Robin Foot as well as a conversion and penalty from Jack Reddin helped Portlaoise to a 15-7 lead at half time in Togher.

And while Newbridge got an early second-half try, Kevin Griffin and Foot added further tries to make Portlaoise safe with Reddin kicking the two conversions.

Paddy Coss and Eanna Delaney were very impressive in what was a solid performance overall.

Portlaoise will begin their Leinster League Division 2A campaign at home to Mullingar on Sunday week, September 22.
