Garda appeal following ‘sledgehammer’ attack on Laois post office

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after all the damage to cars

Gardai have launched an appeal for information following a break in at a post office in Laois.

The incident happened sometime between 11.20pm and 11.30pm last night at Crettyard Post Office.

Gardai say: “Two males attacked front window with what appeared to be a sledgehammer.

“They stole a very small quantity of coinage and left scene after alarm activated.

“Gardaí are appealing to the public for their assistance and in particular if they saw two males acting suspiciously in a vehicle in the area that day or evening or in the days leading up to it.

“Any CCTV footage from area would assist them and if any people with dash cam footage that passed through the area.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardai.
