In Pictures: Joyous scenes as Park-Ratheniska/Timahoe celebrate historic first triumph

There’s nothing like the first!

The hurlers of Park-Ratheniska/Timahoe won the Laois JHC ‘A’ title in O’Moore Park on Saturday evening – their first adult championship success since the new club was formed ahead of the 2018 season.

They suffered a hugely disappointing first year when they were relegated from the intermediate ranks but they were deserving winners of the junior grade.

They beat Rathdowney-Errill, Abbeyleix and Portlaoise to reach the final and then had too much for The Harps in Saturday’s final.

Despite trailing by two points at half time, 2-7 to 2-5, they were dominant in the second half as goals from Paschal Foyle and man of the match Ruairi O’Connor helped them to a 4-11 to 2-11 win in the end.

It brings to an end a successful season for David Cuddy’s men as they also claimed the Division 3 league title.

After the game joint captains Jimmy Langton and Geoff Kingman lifted the trophy and there was joyous scenes on the pitch afterwards as the players posed for the photos with supporters, friends and family members.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller captured a selection of images which you can check out in full below.
