In Pictures: Double up for Camross as they celebrate camogie success

Winning one county final is a big deal – but to win two in the one day is on a different level altogether.

So it was for Camross on Saturday as they not only won back the intermediate camogie title they lost last year to O’Moore’s but also claimed the junior title with their second team.

The two games were played as a double header in O’Moore Park on Saturday with their junior team beating Portlaoise by 5-2 to 3-5.

Aine Cuddy got two goals for Camross while Laura Drennan, Kira Bannon and Courtney Lally got one each.

The intermediate final saw them beat St Brigid’s 1-11 to 0-9. Player of the Match Kirsten Keenan scored five points while Sara Cuddy got the goal and captain Sarah Anne Fitzgerald scored three points.

Camross will now go on to represent Laois in the Leinster intermediate championship.

Indeed the camogie double was part of a great weekend for Camross as the intermediate hurling team beat Borris-Kilcotton in the county final and their seniors beat old rivals Castletown on Friday night in the quarter-final.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller got a selection of images after the two camogie finals which you can check out in full below.
