In Pictures: Great fun as Liam MacCarthy and Joe McDonagh cup visit Abbeyleix Primary School

There was a great buzz in Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix last week when not one but national hurling trophies visited the school.

Laois and Abbeyleix hurler Jake Cranny brought the Joe McDonagh Cup to the school while the famous Liam MacCarthy cup was also a visitor.

Won by Tipperary last month, the cup was in the area and was brought to numerous local groups including the primary school and the local GAA club.

Jake Cranny was part of the Laois hurling squad that won the Joe McDonagh Cup in Croke Park back in June and later beat Dublin to qualify for the All Ireland quarter-final.

They were beaten by eventual All Ireland champions Tipperary in that game but only after a great battle and a brilliant occasion attended by thousands of Laois supporters.

And the children in Abbeyleix had a great day last week for the visit of the trophies.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller was in attendance where she captured a selection of great images.

You can check out the full selection of photos below.
