Primary schools gearing up for 4th annual Laois Athletics cross country races

All roads will lead to Emo GAA Field next Wednesday, September 25th, for the annual Downeys Suzuki Laois Athletics Primary Schools Cross Country races.

This event is aimed at primary school children in the senior half of their schools and aims to promote the sport among those who are not involved and to also develop those who are.

Individual and Team medals are on offer, for 4th, 5th and 6th classes.

Now in its 4th year, this event is proving very popular, as it is being held just before the main Laois Athletics Cross Country Championships and serves as a warm up for the students who are involved.

Rumour has it that some schools have their teams already selected, and have been in training since the beginning of term.

This shows how the prestige of the competition is building among schools and the prospect of winning is appealing to the kids involved

In addition, some upcoming young athletes were spotted on recent Sundays at the 2k Vicarstown junior park run.

It is building up for a great championship once again and a day which promises for great fun for all of those who take part, win or lose!
