Incredible excitement in Killeshin ahead of first ever senior county final

It was all excitement this morning in Killeshin National School as they welcomed members of the panel to take on Portlaoise in this weekend’s Laois senior football final.

The village was decked out in green and white with cars and sheep included in the colour scheme.

Killeshin chants rang out as the players walked out on to the yard introduced by the club’s chairman Gavin Deering before captain David Aston and star forward Eoin Lowry said a few words.

The pupils listened in awe as their heros stood in front of them as they gear up for their first ever senior county final.

They booked their place in the final to take on Portlaoise after defeating Stradbally, Arles-Killeen and Ballylinan to get to the semi final.

They then had a thrilling win over Ballyfin in the semi-final replay and made history in doing as the first Killeshin team to get so far.

The county final takes place on in O’Moore Park on Sunday at 4pm.

There is no doubt these pupils will be there to cheer on their team.
