The Rosenallis hurlers are looking to complete another memorable season for the club when they take on The Harps this Sunday in the Laois SHC ‘A’ final in O’Moore Park.
It’s only three years since the club did the intermediate hurling/junior football double and now they’re looking to go one better by doing the Senior ‘A’ hurling/intermediate football double this year.
A couple of weeks ago they won the intermediate football title when they got the better of neighbours Clonaslee and a win on Sunday would mean they’d be Laois’s only dual senior club in 2020.
Ahead of the game on Sunday, our photographer Julie Anne Miller paid a visit to Derrylamogue National School, one of two local primary schools for the Rosenallis club.
And the place was awash with green and white flags, jerseys and flags.
Principal Maurette Maher, whose two sons are on the panel for Sunday’s game, welcomed us to the school and oversaw the excitement.
Also in attendance was Anna Lennon, who also works in the school – her son John is part of the team and like the Mahers, Keatings and Callallys is one of many past pupils on the team.
“We are the team in green and white,” chanted the students. “We won’t go down without a fight. Rosenallis are on the up, Sunday evening we’ll have the cup.”
Rosenallis take on The Harps at 1.30pm in O’Moore Park and we will be continuing our pre-match coverage throughout the week.
You can check out a selection of photos below that Julie Anne got.
It’ll certainly get you in the mood for the game!!
