A team of Irish athletes took part in the Celtic Cross Country Championships in Stirling in Scotland yesterday and a young Laois teenager was among the medals.
Courtwood native Jack Fenlon, who runs for St Abban’s, represented Ireland in the U-17 Boys race.
On his international debut, the teenager came home in 45th place in a time of 22.09.
Jack’s performance helped the Irish team to a third place finish which saw him bring a bronze medal home.
The Celtic Cross Country sees boys and girls from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete in their respective age grades.
Jack qualified for the Irish team following a strong finish at the National Cross Country Championships back in November.
Competing in the Boys U-16 race, Fenlon put in a fantastic performance to come home in eight position in Abbotstown.
Well done Jack!
