‘Santa Cycle’ in aid of Teac Tom a huge success

Crowds gathered in Portlaoise last month to cycle around the town in aid of Teac Tom.

This is a community based suicide prevention mental health awareness and bereavement support charity providing services in Stradbally for the county of Laois and beyond.

The vital service came about through the personal tragedy of Caroline Devoy and her family, when they lost their sister and daughter, Clare O’Brien to suicide on June 29, 2015.

The cycle took place on Sunday December 1. Sixty people took part where they dressed in Santa suits and decorated their bikes in lights.

Registration was €20 and a sponsor card was provided for each person taking part.

It was the first 14km cycle of the likes and was a great success.

All proceeds went to Teac Tom who provide free counselling for families and individuals affected by suicide and mental health.

€1388 was raised in total and a cheque of this amount was presented to Teac Tom Stradbally recently.
