Your full guide to all of this weekend’s local sports fixtures in Laois

The Big Five

We have a busy weekend on the sporting front ahead with games in GAA, soccer, rugby and basketball involving Laois teams.

The action gets underway on Friday night as the Laois U-20 footballers go for Leinster glory against Dublin in Carlow.

There are a couple of soccer games on Saturday but the main action involves basketball and GAA.

The Portlaoise Panthers Women’s and Men’s teams are in action with the Women involved in what they hope will be a huge game.

They take on Trinity Meteors in the Division 1 semi final with the final, if they get to it, taking place on Sunday.

The local GAA season also gets underway with quarter final and semi final action from the Kelly Cup.

On Sunday, there is more GAA with the Laois Ladies and Laois Camogie teams continuing their campaigns.

Portarlington and Portlaoise are in rugby action while there are also plenty of soccer fixtures from the CCFL, Carlow and Kilkenny leagues.
