Stephen McElroy

McElroy Stephen (Portlaoise and Dromore, Co. Tyrone) died suddenly on Thursday 16th July 2020. Beloved son of Josephine Bolton and the late Eugene. Loving brother to Emma (Declan) and Marie (Enda). Cherished nephew of Gabriel, Brendan, Declan, Paul, Eamon, Kathleen (Fox), Siobhan and Jackie (Bermingham). Treasured uncle to Eoin, Grace, Daniel, Isabel, Conor, Charlotte, and Juliet.

Stephen will be reposing in his uncle’s residence 25 Muldoon Park, Dromore BT78 3AY from 4pm on Sunday, 19th July. House Private. Stephen will leave his uncles residence at 2.30pm on Monday, 20th July, for 3pm Requiem Mass in St Davog’s Church, Dromore, followed by his burial in the adjoining cemetery. Stephen will travel along the Main Street and the Omagh Road to St Davogs Church.

In light of the Corona virus and in the interests of health and safety within the community, those who will be attending the funeral mass will be asked to observe social distancing. Alternatively, the funeral mass can be viewed via Dromore Parish webcam.

Deeply regretted by his loving mother, sisters, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and entire family circle.

Patricia O’Brien (née Rice)
Cherrygrove, Portlaoise, Laois

O’Brien (nee Rice) Patricia. Cherrygrove Portlaoise. Died peacefully on 17th July 2020. Surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Christy and dearly loved mother to Damien, Yvonne and Sandra. Deeply regretted by her brothers John and Paul. Son in law John, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Gordon, Evan, Teagan, nephews, nieces relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents Mary and John, brother Frank and sister Nancy.

Given the exceptional climate and to protect the welfare of everyone who knew her, a private funeral, with immediate family only, will take place, at 12 noon on Monday in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, and will be streamed on the webcam; http://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/web-cam/. Burial afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

John Carter
Ardlea, Mountrath, Laois

Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam. John died unexpectedly in his 81 st year. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Jane Carter, his brothers Andrew and Richard. Sadly missed by his sisters, Charlotte and Alice, his brother-in-law Padraig. Deeply regretted by all his nieces, nephews and their partners, his grandnieces and grandnephews, his great-grandnephew, relatives, his many neighbours and his loyal friend John Hearns and carer Keith.

Ryan Camillus, O’Moore Place, Portlaoise, 17th 2020. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved father to Aileen, James, Denise and Melissa. Deeply regretted by his loving family, partner Michelle, sisters Margaret, Jenny, Tina, brothers John, Tony and Kieran, grandchildren Calum, Ayla, Joey, and Kyler, also Ann, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, former comrades in the UN, relatives and friends.

Philip (Phil) Mockler, Johnstown Road, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. July 13th 2020. Peacefully in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff of Abbeyleix District Hospital. Predeceased by his son Stephen and daughter Susan. Sadly missed by his wife Gwen and his family Frances, Julie, Philip and Tracey, sons-in-law Jeremy and Fred, daughters-in-law Tracey and Bernie, grandchildren, Tommy, Charley, John, Lewis, Henry, Haley, John-Jo, Lucas, Jade, Joe and Paige, Great-grandchildren, Freddy, Ellie, Sadie, Charley, Tilly, Carter, Ivy, Poppy, Harper, Tommy, Ralph, Harry, Noah, Gracie, Florence and Dominic, his sisters Eileen and Tess, brothers Mick and Jim, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

A private family funeral will take place on Friday, July 24th, at 11am in The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. (parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney) followed by burial in Rathdowney Local Cemetery. Please note as per the COVID-19 directive that only fifty people can enter the Church. Social distancing and public health advice must be adheared to.

Nicholas (Nicky) Brennan
Shanganabeg, Barrowhouse, Athy, Kildare, R14 D540/Laois

Peacefully, at the Mater Private Hospital, after a long illness bravely borne. Sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, son James, daughters Deirdre, Elaine and Nicola, brother Michael, sisters Eithne and Marie, son-in-law Jimmy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, granddaughters Ria and Pippa, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Removal from his residence at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Barrowhouse for private Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Those who would have liked to attend the funeral but cannot due to current restrictions may leave a personal message in the section marked ‘Condolences’ below.

Avondale, Portarlington, Offaly/Portarlington, Laois

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Loving daughter of the late Rody and dear partner of the late Kevin Maher. Sadly missed by her loving daughters Siobhan, Louise and Shelly and their father Pat, mother Maureen, brothers Roger, Michael and Adrian, sisters Louise, Caroline, Angela, Orla and Josie, grandchildren Kathlyn, Zoe, Aoibhe, Brook, Seán, Harley and Patrick, son-in-law Danny, Shelly’s partner Tom, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Removal on Saturday arriving St Michael’s Church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery Portarlington.

Due to the Covid 19 Directive Social Distancing will be in place at her residence, in the Church and at the Cemetery.

George T Hipwell, “Kara-Hem”, Tullylost, Rathangan, Co. Kildare, 16th July 2020 at home suddenly and peacefully.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife Mary, sons and daughters, Paul, Eoin, Aine, Olive, brothers and sisters, Denis, Carol, JJ, Desmond, Liam and Pearl, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, granchildren, relatives, neighbours and many dear friends, and his colleagues in Coillte.

Reposing at his home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday(17th July) with rosary at 7 o’clock. In the current circumstances we are requesting those attending his home, please wear a mask and obsersve social distancing guidlines.

George’s funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday (18th July) in the Church of Assumption and St. Patrick, Rathangan. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rathangan.
