The GAA Cul Camps stretch into every corner of the country and it’s no different in Laois.
This week, Ballyfin GAA hosted one of the six camps in Laois.
This is a dual camp so the boys and girls can enjoy learning skills of hurling and football.
And it was certainly one of the biggest of the year with over 100 children taking part.
The camp was coordinated by Portarlington’s Sile Burbage and it was running very well when we called in.
Liadhan C-Fennell and Allan Connolly were among the coaches and they were glad not to have to travel too far from home this week – coming from Rosenallis and Ballyfin respectively.
Though Ballyfin youngesters made up the bulk of the attendance, there were some who had come down from nearby clubs.
The weather has been much better this week with just a shortened day taking place on Wednesday.
However, when we visited on Tuesday, everyone was in high spirits.
