Live Blog: Follow all the action from the Laois Camogie championship final

St Brigid’s and O’Moore’s will meet in the Laois Camogie championship final this afternoon at 12.30pm in MW Hire O’Moore Park.

It is the third successive year that the final has been staged at Laois GAA HQ and sees the 2019 defeated finalists meet the 2018 winners.

St Brigid’s, who are made up largely of girls from Rathdowney, Errill, Clough, Ballacolla, Kilcotton and Borris-In-Ossory, are back in the showpiece and are looking to go one better after losing the decider to Camross last season.

While it is the eighth time in the last nine years that O’Moore’s have reached the camogie showpiece and they will be intent on a third win.

Their breakthrough year came in 2016 when they defeated Camross in the final and they beat the same opposition in 2018 for the second success.

2019 was the first time since 2011 that O’Moore’s were not in the final and their group form this season suggested they would miss out again.

Defeats to Camross and St Brigid’s, along with a draw with The Harps, meant that Dermot McGill’s side went into the semi final with county champions Camross as massive underdogs.

Nevertheless, they won that game and will be hoping experience brings them through this afternoon.

St Brigid’s, who are managed by Liam Tynan, Robert Jones, Mark Dunne and Trish Bergin, come into the final as favourites after winning all of their group games and enjoying a nine-point semi final win over The Harps.

They are hoping to end their wait for silverware at the top level which stretches all the way back to 2004.

It has all the ingredients to be a brilliant match and you can follow all of the action as it happens below:
