Laois man who sadly passed away in Vietnam to be laid to rest

A Laois man who sadly passed away in Vietnam is to be laid to rest tomorrow.

Roy Bulfin, from Green Road in Abbeyleix, died unexpectedly in Ho Chi Minh in the Asian country on Thursday September 10 – surrounded by his friends.

Mr Bulfin was over in Vietnam where he worked periodically – splitting his time between Abbeyleix and there in recent years.

Roy has now been returned to Ireland where he will be laid to rest on Friday September 25 in St Michael and All Angels Church Abbeyleix at 12 noon in a private service.

His loss is deeply regretted by his loving wife Alison, sons Thomas and Jamie, sisters Valerie and Jennifer, brother Alan, brothers-in-law Richard and Apsley, sister-in-law Pauline, extended family and friends.

A former player with Portlaoise Rugby Club, they paid tribute to him at the times of his passing.

They said: “We are saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Roy Bulfin.

“He was a noteworthy past member and talented player. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Rest in peace.”

Roy’s funeral arrangements are as follows:

“Due to covid-19 directive a private family service will take place on Friday 25th in St Michael and All Angels Church Abbeyleix at 12 noon.

“Private cremation to follow.Those who would have liked to attend the Funeral but due to current restrictions cannot may line the route to the Church from the top of Abbeyleix.

“Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Irish Heart Foundation.”
