Deep sadness following the passing ‘incredibly caring’ Laois woman

There is deep sadness in Laois today following the passing of Áine Purcell.

Mrs Purcell, who is from Ballyfin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 4, surrounded by her family, at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.

Áine is the dearly beloved wife of Brian and cherished and loved mother to Brian and Robbie – while she is also survived by her parents Daniel and Anna and her sister Maura.

A former employee of The Pantry in Portlaoise, they paid a heartfelt tribute to Áine on their Facebook page.

They said: “This morning, we were deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear that our dear friend and former colleague Aine Purcell, has passed away.

“Aine joined our team in 2015 and spent almost 3 years with us, quietly enriching the lives of all she came in contact with.

“Known for her natural warmth and incredibly caring personality. It’s likely when you close your eyes to remember her, the image your mind will return to is that of a happy face – creased up in laughter.

“Aine is and always will be, loved by all of her crew; the people who had the distinct honour of working alongside her.

“We offer our deepest condolences to her family and friends … and we will, ever and always, hold her memory, a beautiful and warm memory, in a special corner of our hearts.”

Given the current exceptional circumstances and to protect the welfare of everyone who knew her, a private funeral, with immediate family only, will take place at 12 noon on Friday in St Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise and will be streamed on the webcam http://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/web-cam/.

Cremation will follow in Newlands Crematorium.

May Áine Rest in Peace.
