In Pictures: ‘Fado Faces’ a huge success as the lives of older people celebrated

‘Fado Faces’ took place on Sunday July 18 and it was a huge success.

The exhibition celebrated the lives and stories of older people in Laois through a series of traditional portrait paintings and digital art by a selection of local artists.

Many of the people who were celebrated in the paintings were also present at the exhibition and they were joined by their families to look at their portraits.

The paintings that were displayed at the exhibition were accompanied by a passage from the perspective of the person in the painting.

Each passage showcased the reasons why the life of the person painted was being put on display in the exhibition.

The success of the exhibition at the weekend will help grow ‘Fadó Faces’ to become an annual event with a showcase of twenty or more portraits and stories of older people in Laois.

Photographer Alf Harvey was there to capture some brilliant images.
