Live Blog

This massive weekend of GAA action continues with two more huge games taking place at exactly the same tome.

In O’Moore Park, Portarlington and Graiguecullen will meet in the 2020 Laois SFC final at 2pm.

While at the same time in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, the Laois ladies will take on Wexford for a place in the All-Ireland Intermediate football final.

No matter what happens in this afternoon’s delayed 2020 Laois SFC final, we’re in new territory.

Not only is it the first final since 2006 not to feature Portlaoise, it’s also going to witness the ending of a famine.

Portarlington, who are 4/9 favourites, haven’t won the Laois senior football championship since 2001.

Graiguecullen’s wait goes back even further, to 1965, when they won their 12th title.

Since then the Carlow border club have lost finals in 1972, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1981 and 2011.

While a first All-Ireland final appearance in 20 years is the prize if the Laois ladies can get the better of Wexford in Nowlan Park this afternoon.

While Laois went into last weekend’s quarter final against Louth as big favourites, this game would appear to be closer on paper.

Manager Donie Brennan has named an unchanged side from the one that defeat Louth last weekend.

Laois have actually won the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup before -defeating Cork in the All-Ireland Intermediate decider in 2000.

A year later, they went and defeated Mayo in Croke Park for their only Senior All-Ireland to date.

Simon Hartnett is on duty in Kilkenny while Rory Delaney will bring you all the action from O’Moore Park.
