Open Evening for Music Generation and Laois School of Music this Tuesday, August 31

The grounds of Laois Music Centre will be alive with the sound of music, on Tuesday, August 31, as both Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music hold their annual open evening, from 6-8pm.

The event will take place under a large outdoors tent, and all are welcome to attend, with music options available for children age 3 up to adults.

The Laois Music Centre Annual Open Evening is an opportunity to meet all the musicians who teach on a weekly basis in the centre, people of all ages are encouraged to come and try out different instruments from a huge range of options, and also consider joining one of the many groups or orchestras, bands, pop choirs that are available.

An instrument hire service is available, from group to one-to one classes there is something for everyone.

There are many different instruments available to try including:

  • Trad Flute
  • Leaving Cert Music

  • The Music Box – a music programme for children and young people with additional needs.

  • P-Pops (a singing group,  which all work towards unique performance opportunities, both nationally and internationally.

Laois School of Music

Speaking in advance of the event, Rosa Flannery of Music Generation Laois, said: “We are very much looking forward to Tuesday’s Open Evening, we think it’s very important for people of all ages to experience the full range of what we have to offer, to help them decide which instrument they might like to take up.

“Besides, this is a really fun place to come to each week, and we have a huge annual programme of events for all our musicians to take part in, it’s a whole musical scene for all the people of Laois, it’s just really friendly and sociable.”

Admission to this event is free of charge.
