Bernard (Brian) Smyth, The Cutcheen, Cloncannon, Mountmellick, Co. Laois (formerly of Cavan Town, Co. Cavan) died 27th October 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Brian is predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Lizzie). He will be greatly missed by his sister Lorna, sons Paul and Stephen, daughter Lorraine, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Theresa, grandchildren Liam, Sean, Patrick, Eoin and Michael, nephews and nieces, extended family and great friends.

Liam Bergin, Camross, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. Died 27th October 2021, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore. Son of the late Paddy and Mai Bergin, and dear father to Marie, Liam, David, Samantha and Brian, grandfather to Killian, Ceola, Saóirse and Adam, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, brother to Moira, Rita, Sean, Irene (Ring), and Aidan, brothers-in-law Dermot and John, sister-in-law Pauline, aunt Hannah (Kennedy), Ellen, Mai, close friend Paula, extended family, relatives, neighbours, and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath on Thursday evening (28th October 2021) from 7pm with Rosary at 8pm, (all those attending are asked to please respect social distancing guidelines). Removal on Friday evening at 7.30pm to St. Fergal’s Church Camross, (eircode R32VY79) arriving at 8pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday (30th October 2021) at 12 noon (under new government guidelines the capacity of the Church is limited to 50%), followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Liam’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed on the Camross Community Pastoral Council Facebook Page.

Urcher, Stranooden, Monaghan / Laois

formerly The Swan, Wolfhill, Co. Laois. Sadly missed by his wife Margaret, sons Anthony and Timothy, daughters Bonnie and Tessa, grandchild Ollie, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence. House strictly private please, at the family’s request. Removal on Friday at 10 a.m., arriving at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., followed by private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Portarlington, Laois / Galway

Formerly of Galway. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, while in the wonderful care of the staff of Oakdale Nursing Home, Portarlington. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Charles. Sadly missed by her loving family Fergus, Francis, Fiona, Niall, Eoin, Garrett and Morgan and their partners Liz, Roisin, Conor, Joyce, Deirdre, Helen and Anna and her adoring 28 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends.

Reposing at Mahers Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Thursday from 4:30pm with Removal at 6:50pm arriving St Michael’s Church, Portarlington at 7:30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery, Portarlington.

Br Martin (Walter) Kearns, De La Salle Brothers, Castletown,Portlaoise, Co. Laois and late of Glanaulin, 141 Glen Road, Belfast. Predeceased by his parents, brother, sisters. Sadly missed by his brother in law, nieces,nephew, grand nephews, grand nieces, past pupils, staff and confreres in religion, relatives and friends.

Reposing in the Brother’s residence, Glanaulin this Wednesday evening (Oct. 27th.) from 5 o’c until 8 o’c. Mass this Thursday morning (Oct. 28th.) at 11 o’c in St. Teresa’s Parish Church with burial immediately afterwards in Milltown Cemetery.

Lucan, Dublin/Mountmellick, Laois

Metcalfe, (Lucan Co Dublin and Mountmellick Co Laois) October 22nd, 2021 (unexpectedly) in the excellent care of the Staff of The Beacon Hospital, Ivan loving husband and best friend of Carmel (nee O’Keeffe) and devoted Dad of Evan.

Deeply and deservingly regretted by his wife, son, brothers Ken (Mountmellick) and Sandy (Dublin), nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, neighbours, former work colleagues and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing in Cunninghams Funeral Home, Lucan on Wednesday evening (27th October) from 3pm to 6pm. Removal on Friday Morning (29th October) to St. Andrew’s Church, Lucan for Service at 10am followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium at 12 noon. The service may be view by following this LINK. No flowers, please, donation, if desired, to Cancer Research, St. James’ Hospital.
