Exciting contests ahead as Laois Ladies learn National League Division 2 fixtures

Laois ladies footballers

The Laois Ladies footballers have some exciting encounters to look forward to in 2022 after the National League fixtures were revealed.

Donie Brennan’s charges enjoyed a brilliant 2021 where they operated in Division 3 and won it.

They defeated neighbours Kildare in the decider and as a result, were promoted to Division 2 for this season.

Last year, due to Covid, the Divisions were split geographically with the eight teams in each broken into two groups of four.

The LGFA have decided to stick with this system and Laois are in Division 2A where they face stiff opposition.

The only Leinster team in the Division, they are drawn in the all-Munster group.

They will begin at home to Clare on February 13 before also hosting Tipperary a week later.

Laois are then on the road for the final group game on March 6 when they travel to face Kerry.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi final stage with that fixture on March 19.

Division 2B is an all-Ulster affair with Cavan, Monaghan, Armagh and Tyrone set to battle it out.

The bottom two teams in each group will contest relegation semi finals while the league final and relegation final will take place on April 10.
