Camross claimed the delayed 2021 Laois Minor camogie title this afternoon in Abbeyleix as they struck for three second-half goals to see off the challenge of St Brigid’s.

Across the grades – and in both camogie and hurling – Camross have always known how to go for the jugular in big games, and two goals from Tara Lowry and one each from Grainne and Caoimhe Delaney helped them to a 10-point win.

A Grainne Delaney goal had helped them to a 1-6 to 0-4 lead at the break, with all of St Brigid’s scores coming from the stick of Eimear Hassett, their impressive free-taker.

Grainne Delaney hit the ground running for Camross with two early points while Tara Lowry and Andrea Scully also pointed twice apiece in the opening half.

A brilliant Tara Lowry goal early in the second half gave Camross some further breathing space and though Emma Jane Coss pounced for St Brigid’s first goal, Camross never looked like losing.

Aiva Coss did get the gap back to four Lowry and Scully responded with points and then Lowry powered through for her second goal.

Three points in a row from Scully suddenly had them 12 up and in control.

A long-range Aiva Coss free for St Brigid’s ended up in the Camross net but Grainne Delaney brought her tally to 1-2 and though Enya Carroll got a late goal for Brigid’s there was to be no denying Camross.

SCORERS – Camross: Tara Lowry 2-3, Andrea Scully 0-8 (three frees), Grainne Delaney 1-2, Caoimhe Delaney 1-0. St Brigid’s: Aiva Coss 1-2 (0-1 free), Eimear Hassett 0-4 (all frees), Emma Jane Coss 1-0, Enya Carroll 1-0
