Laois secondary school’s TYs gearing up for their production of Aladdin and His Magic Lamp

Rehearsals are in full swing as a Laois secondary school is gearing up for their TY musical which begins next week.

After a three year Covid-19 enforced absence, excitement is building in Scoil Chriost Ri.

This year, the TY girls are putting on a production of Aladdin and His Magic Lamp.

As they tell the story, the girls will also perform classic hits such as A Whole New World, One Jump Ahead and Arabian Nights.

The full cast are: Emma Ramsbottom (Aladdin), Brinda Irani (Jasim), Ciara Bartley (Genie), Eimear Whelan (Kassim), Alison Dalton (Omar), Leah Smullen (Babkak), Tara Ring (Sultan), Emma Tuohy (Jafar), Róisín Bracken (Iago), Mary O’ Brien (Isir), Hannah Guinan (Manal), Sharon Karki (Rajah), Nora Alastal (Apple Vendor), Khetmani Behan (Razoul).

The Director is Karen Hackett, the choreographer is Lea Carroll and assistant directors are Mary O’Brien and Tara Ring.

Their show runs from Tuesday to Thursday, May 10, 11 and 12 in the Dunamaise Theatre.

There are matinees for local schools in the mornings, with evening shows at 7.30pm. Students/OAP tickets are €12 while adults are €14.
