Mayo National School in Crettyard celebrated the opening of “Eileen’s Garden” with a lovely service on June 27.

The outdoor classroom is a tribute to the former caretaker and forever friend of the school.

The garden will continue Eileen’s legacy of care and love for many years to come.

A school spokesperson said: “Thank you to Eileen’s family, friends, neighbours, pupils and parents that attended and helped make the event a very special one for Eileen.

“Special thanks to Fr Murphy for blessing our classroom, Eugene for the lovely music.

“Thanks to Clare for a lovely heartfelt speech and our fabulous parents association & Selene for a fantastic array of refreshments.

“And finally, thank you to Eileen for all her dedicated service to our school, the staff and all the pupils over the years, she truly is one of a kind.”
