Couple of interesting clashes as draw made for Round 3 of Laois SFC

Football General

The draws for Round 3 of the Laois SFC, as well as the relegation semi-finals, have been made this evening in O’Moore Park.

The meeting of neighbours Arles-Killeen and Killeshin in the relegation playoff game is probably the standout fixture given the controversy that marred their Round 2 game in last year’s championship.

Ballylinan will play Emo in the other relegation game.

Elsewhere, O’Dempsey’s, arguably the most impressive beaten Round 2 team, will play newly-promoted Park-Ratheniska in what is arguably the pick of the other Round 3 games.

Stradbally will take on Clonaslee-St Manman’s, Ballyroan-Abbey will meet Ballyfin and Rosenallis will clash with Courtwood in the other Round 3 games.

In the intermediate there was no need for a draw for the quarter-finals as repeat fixtures weren’t permitted so Arles-Kilcruise will play Timahoe in one quarter-final and the winners of Mountmellick and The Rock will face Ballyroan-Abbey in the other.

The senior Round 3 and relegation playoff games will take place on the weekend of August 19-21 as will the intermediate quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals of the senior will be three weeks later on on the weekend of September 10-11 as there are no games on the weekend of Electric Picnic.
