Super Sunday of action looms ahead for all in Emo Rounders

This coming Sunday, August 28, the All-Ireland rounders semi-finals are to be held in the Meath GAA Centre of Excellence near Trim.

In only its first full year as an adult rounders club, Emo have made three semi-finals.

First up to play on Saturday are the Emo men’s team. This team topped their group in the Intermediate All-Ireland Championship, having only lost one game.

Playing Emo, will be Fenagh from Carlow who were runners-up in their group. This game will be on at 10.30am on Sunday.

Next up on Sunday at 1pm are Emo ladies. Competing in the All-Ireland Junior championship, Emo only lost one game in the group stages and finished as runners-up.

Emo will be playing St. Clare’s from Cavan in the semi-final.

The last semi-final on Sunday is the Junior Mixed between Emo and Killmena of Mayo.

The mixed team are unbeaten all year so can hopefully continue this run on Sunday with the match starting at 3.30pm

Qualifying for the above three semi-finals is a massive achievement in only its first full year as an adult club.

The teams are a mixture of teenagers and players all the way up to their mid to late 40s.

Most of the older players are new to adult rounders but haven’t shown this at all in their performances throughout the year.

Emo’s younger players are all new to adult rounders but have years of experience playing underage rounders with Emo with most of them having six or seven underage All-Ireland titles.

Regardless of the scores, Emo are sure to give it everything on Sunday and can hopefully qualify for the All-Ireland Finals to be held in September.

Emo Rounders would also like to wish their near neighbours, The Heath the best of luck as they play their All-Ireland Men’s Senior semi-final.

This is against Erne Eagles of Cavan and takes place on Saturday, August 27, at 4pm in Kinnegad GAA grounds.
