Tragically, following a drowning accident, in Gran Canaria. Sadly missed by his loving wife Martina, family Jack, Cian and Eimhin, father Hugh, mother Trudy, sister Eimear, brother Darragh, parents-in-law Charlie and Louise, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Rice, Paul, Colliers Court and late of Marian Ave., Portlaoise, Dec. 12th, 2022. Peacefully, at Portlaoise Regional Hospital. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary and his sisters Patrica and Nancy and brother Frank. Deeply regretted by his brother John, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral arriving for requiem Mass at 11.30am in SS Peter and Paul’s Church on Saturday. Webcam – Portlaoise Parish. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Nora Phelan (née Duggan)
Castle St, Durrow, Laois

Peacefully, at her residence, in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack), her brothers Ned, Peader, Bill, Jim and Martin, her sisters Maura, Nancy and Tess. Deeply regretted by her loving sons John, Brendan, Justin and Declan, her daughters in law Breda, Emer, Pat and Stephanie, her sisters in law Peggy and Mary, her twelve grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Phelan’s Funeral Home, Durrow, from 4.00pm on Thursday with Rosary at 8.00pm. Removal to Holly Trinity Church, Durrow, on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 12.00 noon. Kitty (Catherine) Kennedy (née Brophy)
Rathlogan, Johnstown, Kilkenny / Rathdowney, Laois

Kitty (Catherine) Kennedy (nee Brophy), Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Crosspatrick and formerly Rathlogan, Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny and Harristown, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. December 11th 2022. Unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly mourned by her brother Harry, sisters Imelda, Helen, Teresa and Bernadette, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass in The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney (parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney) on Friday at 1 o’clock followed by interment in Galmoy Cemetery.

William (Billy) Doran
Ballickmoyler, Carlow / Laois

William (Billy) Doran, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 11th 2022, Aged 92 year. Beloved husband of Anne, much-loved father of Joe and Eileen, adored grandfather to Laurn, Ella, Lilly, Kenzie and Eliza. Sadly missed by his wife, son, daughter, brothers Sean and Michael, sister Bridget, son in law, daughter in law, sister in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Predeceased by his sisters Mary and Jody.

Reposing at his home on Tuesday, 13th December 2022. Removal on Wednesday 14th at 12 noon to The Holy Cross Church, Killeshin, for Requiem Mass at 12.30pm. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Eileen (Helen) Mc Grath
Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix, Laois

Peacefully in the care of Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget in the presence of her loving son Mark, and surrounded by her nieces and nephews. Deeply regretted by her loving son Mark, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in the Chapel of Repose adjoining the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, from 6.30pm on Friday with Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal from her residence to The Church of the Most Holy Rosary on Saturday for 10.30am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Dementia Care Laois.

Moore Street, Rathdowney, Laois

Mary (Mai) O’Sullivan (nee Gilman), Moore Street, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. December 11th 2022 in the tender care of the nurses and staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget. Predeceased by her husband Michael, brothers John and Paddy Gilman. Sadly mourned by her loving family Margaret (Delaney), Catherine (Kay) O’Connell, Kieran, Ann (Koch), Ellen (Delaney) and Rose (Barrett), sons-in-law Jimmy, Tom, Frank, Noel and Danny, daughter-in-law Mary, her beloved grandchildren James, Kieran, Kate (Delaney), Zara (O’Connell), Sarah, Louise (O’Sullivan), Tim (Koch), Conor, Emma and Eoin (Delaney), her brother Fintan and sisters-in-law Teresa Gilman, Kathleen Gilman, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11 o’clock in the Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney (parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney) followed by interment in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.

Predeceased by his Parents Jeremiah and Brigid, brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted by his sister Agnes (New York), sisters in law, nieces, nephews in Dallas, New York, London and Ireland, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, past pupils, friends and especially by his confreres in religion, the staff in Miguel House and the De La Salle College, Waterford.

Reposing in Miguel House, Castletown (Eircode R32 FK02) from 11am on Tuesday (13th. Dec.) with evening Prayer and Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday (14th. Dec.) at 3 pm in Castletown Parish Church, followed by burial in the Monastery Cemetery, Castletown.
