Appeal for dashcam footage launched after man impersonating Garda appears in Laois village

Garda General new new new

Gardai are appealing for information in relation to an incident of burglary and impersonation of a Garda in a Laois village.

The incident occurred on Friday February 10 in Clonaslee.

Gardai are seeking dash cam footage from anyone who passed through the village between 10.30am and 11.30am on that morning.

Gardai say: “Portlaoise Gardai are appealing for dash cam footage from anyone that passed through Clonaslee Village on the 10/2/23 between 10.30am and 11.30am.

“This is as they continue to investigate an incident of a burglary and impersonation of a Garda.

“Any information is to please be given Portlaoise Garda Station 0578674100.”

This is the second time in recent weeks that an incident such as this has been reported in Laois.

A man impersonating a Garda appeared at a house in Rosenallis at the end of January.

The householders did not engage with this person and reported the matter immediately to Gardai.

It is unclear if there is any connection between the two incidents.
