In Pictures: First Portlaoise St Patrick’s Day parade since 2019 proves big success

Portlaoise St Patrick's Day Parade

For the first time since 2019, the St Patrick’s Day Parade returned to Portlaoise.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began in 2020, there has been no parade in our county town.

But it returned this year and huge crowd turned out to watch the spectacle.

The amazing Laois Ladies footballers were the grand marshals on the day.

They claimed All-Ireland Intermediate title last year and had that on show once again.

While it was wet this morning, a 12.30pm start from Laois County Council meant much of the rain had gone by the time the parade began.

Photographer Denis Byrne was in Portlaoise today to follow the action.
