Dowling’s Gala in Killenard celebrates one year in business this weekend

Setting up in business at the back end of a global pandemic was no easy feat.

But Colm and Lynda Dowling, who took the brave step of opening a Gala in Killenard this time last year, celebrate their first birthday this weekend, March 25-26.

The store is located in the heart of Killenard village beside the Heritage Hotel.

“We are a family run Gala Retail Convenience store in the beautiful village of Killenard with an adjacent coffee shop named Coffee N’Cake and after a very difficult and challenging time in retail, we have successfully made it through our first year of trading,” says Colm.

“We had some amazing positives in our very first year of business,” he adds. “We won a Gala Business Excellence Standards Award along with a Silver Award from ShelfLife in the Small Convenience Store category.

“To mark the occasion, we will be having a weekend of celebrations this weekend for the local community of Killenard.”

Dowling’s Gala promise many wonderful giveaways, great food and a selection of Bewleys coffee. There will also be facepainting and other entertainment for the kids who have really embraced having a new shop on their doorstep.

“We are running special offers across our store from pet food, bakers corner, confectionary, laundry & household. There are a couple specific offers for mums & dads too in our Distill Off License.

“Both my wife Lynda and I along with our beautiful children, Grace, Lily, Olivia and Faye want to thank everyone who has help support us over the last 12 months.”
