Portlaoise CBS Leinster B Final (6)

Portlaoise CBS 2-11 Cnoc Mhuire Granard (Longford) 3-7
First Year Leinster ‘B’ Football Championship Final

Portlaoise CBS were crowned First Year Leinster ‘B’ football champions following victory ober Cnoc Mhuire Granard recently.

The half time score was 2-5 to 1-4 with the Longford side claiming the lead at the break.

But the CBS came out into the second half with all guns blazing and pulled the game back to a draw.

It was point for point for the final quarter and in the dying minutes in what could only be described as dramatic fashion, David Timmons kicked a point to put the CBS ahead.

The referee deemed there was time for one last attack from Cnoc Mhuire and a goal chance arose but CBS full back, Jack Dowling, cleared the ball off the line.

Within seconds the final whistle blew and the CBS had won the game – a fantastic achievement for all including coaching Ms Niamh Hyland and Mr Geoff Brennan.

Afterwards, referee Robbie Moran presented captain Finn Darcy with the Leinster title.
