Martin Bergin Memorial Run in aid of Ciaran Moore Rehabilitation fund to take place this weekend

Ciaran Moore MArtin Bergin Memorial Run

The Martin Bergin Memorial Run will take place on Sunday April 16 in Camross with all funds raised going towards a very worthy cause.

All money will go to the Ciaran Moore Rehabilitation Fund, a young Camross man who was seriously hurt in America.

He was left with a Traumatic Brain Injury after being the victim of a one-punch attack in a Boston pub at Christmas 2021.

Ciaran has been living in the USA for almost 20 years where he works with the family business Brenco Construction and is heavily involved in the GAA scene in the city.

The incident happened on St Stephen’s Night 2021 with Ciaran rushed to hospital where he was already in a coma.

Surgeons were forced to perform an emergency Craniotomy where they removed a part of Ciaran’s skull to reduce the impact of the swelling but his family were told there was a high chance he would be in a vegetative state if he survived.

After two months in and out of ICU, he was stabled enough to be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital where there was progress and Ciaran returned home in June last year.

He has continued to improve but require ongoing support and the proceeds from the run will help with that.

Martin Bergin was one of the founding members of Camross Vintage Club and this Memorial Run is held in his honour.

Tractors, cars and bikes are welcome to take part in the run and registration in Camross begins at 11.30am.

The run will leave Camross village at 2pm with a BBQ, raffle and music in the Camross Inn afterwards.
