There is deep shock and sadness in Laois following the news of the tragic passing of a dad and his son in Turkey.

Eoin Fitzpatrick and his son Dylan died on Monday when the moped they were travelling on collided with a bus.

Neoen Renewables Ireland Ltd have applied to Laois County Councill for planning permission at a site in Bracklone, Portarlington.

The permission is sought primarily for the development of 136 battery storage units and 17 Medium Voltage skid platforms.

The facility, which was launched Monday, continues to be a hot-bed for controversy in the county.
