In Pictures: Rain fails to dampen the enjoyment as second year of Forest Fest proves a big success

Forest Fest Main

The rain fell but the craic was mighty as the crowds flocked to Emo over the weekend for the second installment of Forest Fest.

Around 10,000 music lovers flocked to the Laois village and by the looks of it, they were not disappointed.

The second year of Forest Fest attracted some of the world’s best known artists, alongside a host of Irish stars.

The three-day music and arts festival took place in a stunning, wooded background bordering Emo Court.

Nearly 100 artists performed over the course of the weekend, with a stellar international line-up and the cream of Irish bands.

The headliners on Friday, James, set the tone for the weekend with their hit song ‘Sit Down’ going down a treat.

Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge was the main act on Saturday with their classic ‘We Are Family’ a big hit.

While Suede brought the house down on Sunday to bring the festival to its conclusion.

The star-studded line up also included Scottish folk twins The Proclaimers, Ash, Suzanne Vega, Something Happens, Bell X 1, Sharon Shannon and even Oasis and The Beatles tribute bands.

Photographer Paul Dargan was present on the Friday and Saturday of the three day festival.
