National titles for Delaney and McDonald as St Abban’s excel at the Juvenile Championships

The juveniles of St Abban’s Athletics Club were busy competing at the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore this past weekend.

A Special mention for both John Delaney and Aoibhin McDonald who won National titles in the 400m and Pole Vault respectively achieving new Personal Bests in the process, and a club record for Aoibhin.

John went behind in the early stages of his 400m, but kept his nerve to make a move at 150m to go and take the title in a new PB.

Lily Brophy and Cormac Dineen were also in action on Saturday in the Javelin and the Walk respectively.

The 2023 juvenile Track and Field season came to a close on Sunday, with stand-out performances from Rachel Ayres and Holly Byrne.

Both athletes hit new PB’s, winning bronze medals in the 1500m and Shot Putt respectively.

Fionnan Brennan (Shot), Edon Nimani (Shot), Elaine Miller (Triple Jump), James Hyland (Hurdles), and Katie Baldwin (Long and Triple Jump) were also in action but just missed out on claiming medals.

The Crettyard club would like to thank all club coaches who give up so much of their time over the course of the summer.
