Historic partnership between Laois GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association set for Pride March

Laois GAA wishes to inform all clubs of the upcoming exciting and memorable opportunity to represent Laois GAA in this weekend’s Portlaoise Pride March.

The parade will take place on Saturday, September 9 at 12pm.

As part of the festivities, there will be a historic partnership which will see Laois GAA, Laois LGFA, and Laois Camogie Association all coming together under one umbrella.

This will be the very first time that the three associations will work together in public.

Like pride itself, this is a huge step in terms of progress and inclusivity.

It is hoped that this move will maximise the impact of all three associations on the day.

“Through this united front, we will symbolise the strength of our various organisations coming together to celebrate the spirit of inclusivity,” Laois GAA said.

Any interested club representatives are asked to meet at the march assembly point, located at Fitzmaurice Place – just outside the Laois School of Music in Portlaoise – at 11.15am.

The parade will commence here at 12 noon, then make it’s way through the town, before culminating at Portlaoise Leisure Centre at an expected finish time of 1pm.

The aim is to have at least once representative from each club in the county.

The plan for these representatives is to proudly wear their own club jersey (or county jersey) during participation in the parade.

The goal of having Laois GAA club representation in attendance at this event is to gather a diverse group of people that represent our country’s vibrant spirit.

In order to greatly enhance Laois GAA’s representation at this event, the association say they would greatly appreciate any interest.

“Attendance would really mean a lot to us as we will all come together to celebrate unity, diversity and pride,” they said.

The map for the exact route of the entire march on the day is as follows:
