€34,000 awarded for 25 Laois Tidy Towns groups across the county

€34,000 has been pledged to support Laois Tidy Towns groups with their preparations for the 2024 Tidy Towns competition.

25 Tidy Town groups in Laois will be eligible for Government support between €1,000 and €4,000 each.

All of the Tidy Towns Groups in Laois who entered the competition in any of 2021, 2022 and 2023 will be eligible to apply.

Laois TD Sean Fleming encouraged all eligible to draw down their allocation.

He said: “All eligible groups will be contacted before Christmas to confirm their funding.

“All projects and initiatives funded under this support must be completed by July 31st, 2024.

“The Tidy Towns is all about community and pride in your local area.

“This funding will help the local groups to transform their communities and local environment.

“I would like to congratulate Abbeyleix on winning the Overall National Tidy Towns competition in 2023.

“I want to thank all of the volunteers in Abbeyleix Tidy Towns and all of the Laois Tidy Towns groups for all of their hard work and dedication.”
