Laois comedian’s Irish comedy board game achieves huge funding success

A Laois comedian has achieved huge funding success for his brand new board game – Dungeons and Naggins.

Portarlington native Steve Bennett created the game which has received huge interest since its launch on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter recently.

Steve Bennett, the creator of Dungeons and Naggins, is an acclaimed and award-winning stand-up comic who spent years touring his native Ireland, the UK, and Australia.

Also, if you think he looks familiar, that’s because he’s the guy from the Flahavans porridge ads.

Dungeons and Naggins began as an roleplaying game for a friend’s birthday.

The twist is that without any knowledge of rules or use of official guides, Steve just made the game up, substituting rules with drinking challenges, and long story short, they all had such a fun adventure that he decided to keep making more.

After a few months, Dungeons and Naggins evolved into a podcast starring fellow Irish comedians before becoming an electrifying stage show that sold out the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2019 and entertained a packed crowd at Electric Picnic 2022.

Previous guests have included Justine Stafford, Kevin McGahern, Martin Angolo, and Erin McGathy.

After years of development and testing, Steve has transformed Dungeons and Naggins into a brand new, Irish-themed board game that can be enjoyed at home or in the pub!

Based on classic Roleplaying and video games, Dungeons and Naggins promises booze-fueled fun in the form of 30-minute adventures with plenty of laughs and hilarious Irish-isms throughout.

The game features beautiful artwork by Saoirse Kavanagh and promises endless replayability with a cooperative design that means everyone plays together to win or lose as a team.

Play as mighty heroes like The Pintman and Muck Savage and battle fearsome enemies like The Cowboy Builders and Margaret Thatcher!

Survive hilarious encounters such as dodging a compliment or public transport, and gather enough chicken fillet rolls and tasty pints to survive the dungeon.
