The death has occurred of Jim Hughes, Garrykennedy, Portroe, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary & formerly of Portlaoise, peacefully in the loving care of Cork University Hospital (3rd of November 2023). Beloved husband of the late Máire. Predeceased by his siblings Eilish, John and Mary.

Deeply regretted by his loving children – Niall, Crona, Orla, Mary, Joe and Jim; sisters – Frances, Kathleen and Margaret; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; sons-in-law – John, Finian, and Gary; daughters-in-law – Darra, Claire and Aysel; his adored grandchildren; nephews; nieces; relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Keller’s funeral home Nenagh (E45XO94) on Sunday evening from 7pm to 9pm. Funeral arriving to St. Mary’s Church Portroe on Monday morning at 10.45 am for funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only.

Maura Bridget Nicholson – Clohessy (née Jordan)
Patrick Street, Mountrath, Laois

Maura Bridget Nicholson – Clohessy (née Jordan), London and late of Patrick Street, Mountrath, Co. Laois , died 18th October 2023. Predeceased by her husband Michael, parents Mary and John, her brothers and sisters. Sadly missed by her children Steve and Michelle, grandchildren Sorrel, Persephone, Lavinia and Emma, great-grandchildren Rory, Florence and Theodore, daughter-in-law Caroline, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath on Monday November 6th from 7.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8 o’clock. Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath (Eircode R32X338), for Requiem Mass at 10 o’clock, followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Daniel (Dan) Mulhall
Doonmore, Doonbeg, Clare/Ballybrittas, Laois

The death has occurred of Daniel (Dan) Mulhall, Doonmore, Doonbeg, Co. Clare and formerly of the Woodenbridge, Ballybrittas, Co. Laois.

Peacefully after a short illness at the University Hospital Limerick. Deeply regretted by his wife Áine, sons James and John, his many relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence on Sunday from 4 o’clock until 6 o’clock.  Funeral mass on Monday in Our Lady Assumed into Heaven Church, Doonbeg, at 11 o’clock, followed by private cremation.  No flowers, please.

Raisa Ernestsone “Burnville” Ballyfin Rd Portlaoise and formerly from Bigaunciems, Latvia, passed away peacefully on 2 November 2023, at home surrounded by Maija and her loving family. Dearly loved mother to Emerita, Ilze, Janis, Maija and cherished grandmother to Max, Sofia and grandkids in Latvia Elvis, Kitija, Eriks, Lienite, Deinis, Hugo and Otto.

Deeply missed by her loving family and son in law Vinnie, sister Klaudija, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home Portlaoise on Monday evening from 6.30 till 8 pm. Requiem mass will take place on Tuesday at 12 noon in St Peter and Paul’s Church ww.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/  Cremation will follow in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

No flowers or mass cards by request. Donations if desired may be made to the Cuisle Centre Portlaoise.

Mary B. Behan,Bishopsland, Kildare Town, Co. Kildare and formerly Tierernane, Ballickmoyler, Carlow, passed away unexpectedly, on November 2nd , 2023, at her home. 

Beloved daughter of Jackie and Carmel and much loved sister of John, Joe, Anne, Maurice, Michael, Brede and Helen.

She will be sadly missed by her loving parents, brothers, sisters, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Michael Vincent Caden, originally Crossmolina, Co. Mayo, November 1st 2023 at Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise. Sadly missed by his loving wife Patricia, son Dennis, daughter Yvonne, brother, sister, relatives and friends.

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home, Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am in St. Abban’s Church, Doonane. A private cremation will follow.

Maureen Fox (née Enright)

Maureen Fox (née Enright), formerly Listowel Co. Kerry, Rosenallis and Ridge Road Portlaoise. Passed away peacefully on 2nd of November 2023, surrounded by her loving family in Ballard Lodge Nursing home.

Predeceased by her husband Paddy, sisters Brigid (Beta), Helen, brothers Val, Noah, Dan, Pat, Joe, Gerry, John. Dearly beloved and cherished by her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, relatives and large circle of friends.

Reposing in Moloney’s Funeral Home, Mountmellick, on Friday 3rd from 7pm to 9pm. Recital of the rosary at 8pm. Removal on Saturday 4th, at 10.30am to St. Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis, arriving for 11am requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in Rosenallis Cemetery.

Mark Scully, Millbrook, Portlaoise, November 2nd 2023, suddenly, at his residence. Loving son to Pat and the late Margaret. Only brother to Sharon. Deeply regretted by his loving family, Sharon’s partner Cliff and their children Ryan, Emma and Kate, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s funeral home on Sunday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm. Rosary at 7.30pm Removal on Monday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 12 noon requiem Mass. Interment will take place afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.

Margaret (Peg) Brennan (née Cullen)of 17 Springdale, Tullow Rd., and formerly Graiguecullen, Carlow, passed away peacefully, on November 1st, 2023, in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff at Hillview Nursing Home, Tullow Rd., Carlow

Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Elizabeth. Much loved mother of Willie, Sarah, Paddy, Elizabeth, John, Pauline, Joe, Bridget and the late Teresa St., John and cherished sister of the late Jack, Lil, Sal, Molly and Patricia.

She will be sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

HOUSTON (née O’NEILL) BRENDA died after a short illness on October 30th 2023 surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff of Charing Cross Hospital, London.

Predeceased by her parents Liam and Brigid, her sisters Barbara and Siobhán and her brothers Caoimhín (Kevin) and Aengus.

Deeply regretted by her beloved sons David and Paul, their father John, daughter in-law Anastasia, David’s partner Helen, her grandchildren Fox, Evie and Lula, her sisters Maria, Gráinne, Mairéad, Gertrude and Suzette, her brothers Diarmuid, Colm, Liam and Killian, her wider family and large circle of friends.

A private funeral service will be held in London in the coming weeks.

Deeply regretted by her husband of sixty-one years, Joe, her children Anne (Peter), John (Sheila), Claire (Peter), Fr. Francis, Helena (Eamonn), Stewart (Heather), her eleven grandchildren, sisters Julia Dooley (Portlaoise) and Peggy Hyland (Portlaoise), sisters-in-law Babs Whelan (Portlaoise) and Kitty Whelan (Kildare), nieces, nephews, good neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reynolds Seán late of Navan and Portarlington passed away peacefully on October 31st surrounded by his loving family.

Much loved husband to Máire, dad to Fiona, Aoife and Donal, pappy to Síofra, Liam, Róisín, Aislinn and Saoirse. Son to Rita and the late Jimmy Reynolds. Missed by his family, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, sisters and brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends.

With great sadness, I share that – when the time was right – my dear husband Colm Kelly (1950 – 2023) was taken to his eternal home where he is rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Saviour who saved him by his grace.

He will be greatly by his wife Annelies and his family and friends.

Peacefully, in St James’ Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Retired teacher in St Mary’s School, Rathfarnham. Predeceased by his infant son Maurice.

Beloved husband of Máirín, adored father of Adrian and Niamh, and devoted grandad of Finn, Áine, Maya, Julia, Ronan and Mary-Kate.

Fintan will be deeply missed and remembered always by his loving family, his daughter-in-law Niamh, his son-in-law Danny, his brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends.
