There have been some fascinating contests across the opening round of the LaoisToday QuizCast – and as we bring the curtain down on this stage of the competition, this is arguably the best of them all.
It’s a real local derby with Laois footballer Mark Timmons from Graiguecullen taking on his former St Pat’s underage soccer team-mate, Gavin Deering from Killeshin.
It’s a chance for Killeshin to record a rare win over Graiguecullen and like all their battles on the pitch, this is a ferocious battle that goes right down to the wire. Indeed it’s only settled on the very last question.
There are 16 contestants in all in what is a straight knockout competition, a general sports quiz devised by our Quiz Master Mark Comerford.
The Round of 16 and quarter-final pairings are all being recorded on Zoom with the semi-finals and final to be hosted in the Square Bar in Portlaoise on Friday, December 8.
