Laois’s Erone Fitzpatrick has been named the Carlton Rookie of the Year following her first full season in Australia.

The Park-Ratheniska forward claimed the accolade at the club’s awards evening which was held recently.

In her first season at both the Blues and in the AFLW, Erone Fitzpatrick has been awarded with the Rookie of the Year award.

Fitzpatrick made her debut in Round 1 against the Gold Coast Suns and quickly became a fan favourite, playing every game in her debut season.

Despite getting off to a decent start, Carlton won four of their ten games and finished in 12th place overall.

That saw them miss out on the Finals Series with Brisbane eventually crowned champions.

Carlton AFLW Senior Coach Mathew Buck paid tribute to Fitzpatrick following her first season.

He said: “Erone has fully embraced the environment we have looked to create.

“I have been really impressed with how she has held her own in the side and never left anything to chance.

“To have players who are still emerging yet willing to drive such high standards has been so valuable for our program.”
