Laois farmer receives honorary life membership to the IFA

Outgoing IFA President Tim Cullinan presented honorary life membership to a Laois farmer at a recent meeting.

Mr Cullinan has since been replaced by Laois farmer Francie Gorman who will take over as IFA President in the new year.

The IFA National Council confers Honorary Life Membership on any person who they believe has rendered outstanding service to the Association.

Michael Bergin is from the Mountrath IFA Branch and he received the award for his outstanding commitment.

This included dedication, contribution and loyalty to the IFA both at a local and national level.

Michael was to the fore of the ANC campaign within the county.

He served as County Chairman and was National Chairman of the IFA National Rural Development Committee.

He also served on the Farm Business Committee and was instrumental in organising Leader Programme funding for projects within the county.
