Vicarstown parkrun and junior parkrun inviting new attendees for 2024

Vicarstown man John Scully has been recognised for the success of parkrun

Vicarstown parkrun and junior parkrun, in conjunction with the local SVT Activity and Wellness Hub, is promoting its activities for the new year.

Twelve months ago, in January 2023, the SVT Hub welcomed RTÉ’s Operation Transformation to the parish.

A very busy two months followed, with plenty of activities, and with many local “Ad Break Heroes” making our national TV screens.

The programme of activities concluded with the huge OT 5k run in the Phoenix Park at the end of February.

“We don’t have the official “OT Programme” coming from Laois this year, but we still hope to have a big representation from the county in the Phoenix Park again in about 6 weeks time,” a representative said.

“Why not get your New Year off to a great start, by joining us in Vicarstown.

“Whether you are an active sports person hoping to shake off those Christmas ounces, or you are a bit less active but fitness-conscious, parkrun has a lot to offer you.

“Don’t worry if you can’t run the full distance; walkers and joggers are most welcome too.

“A cuppa is served afterwards, and it has become a great social gathering, where friendships are formed and maintained.

“Lets get moving, and we will have a bus-load for the Phoenix Park on February 17.”

Meetings will take place on Saturday mornings at 9:30am and on Sunday mornings at 11am for 4 – 14 year olds.
