Sadness in Emo at the death of JJ Treacy

    JJ Treacy RIP

There is sadness in Emo, The Heath and the wider communities this week at the death of JJ Treacy, a hugely respected man in the area. He was aged in his early 80s.

A former chairman of Emo GAA and a part of the club’s only championship-winning side in 1972, he was a diehard club member.

A well-regarded farmer, he was known for his good humour and for being good company, a man who had a word for everyone who crossed his path, be it in farming, sporting or community circles.

He is predeceased by his wife Paula and sister Mary. He will be very sadly missed by his loving children Carol, Deirdre, John, Fiona (Kearney), Justin, Catherine (Punch) and Eimear.

He will be also sadly missed by his daughters-in-law Caroline and Vivienne, sons-in-law James and Donie, and Deirdre’s partner Mark, brothers Frank, Paddy and Tony, and sisters-in-law, and his adoring grandchildren Grace, Kate, Laura, Ava, Dan, Luke, Jack, Tristan, Alison and Oscar, and wide circle of friends.

JJ is being waked in his house (R32 XY23) on Wednesday the 10th from 5pm to 8pm.

Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral mass on Thursday at 12 noon in St Paul’s Chuch, Emo. Burial afterwards in the adjoining church yard. House private on Thursday morning please.
