Jim McCloskey, Well Rd, Court, Portlaoise, January 13th 2024. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his son Jimmy. Dearly loved husband to Teresa and loving father to Catherine, Jacqueline, Teresa and Séona. Cherished grandfather to Saoirse, Caoimhe, Cian, Siobhan, Danny, Aimee, Abigail, Noah, Aaron, Shane and Emily. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sister Geraldine, daughter in law Triona, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at his daughter Teresa’s residence at 26 Aghnaharna Court ((R32K3TT) on Tuesday from 4pm until 8pm with rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Wednesday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, for 2pm requiem Mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Margaret (Rita) McGreevy (née Moore)
Dublin/Portarlington, Laois/Roscommon

McGreevy (née Moore), Margaret (Rita), 12th January 2024, Dublin and formerly of Portarlington, Co. Laois, peacefully at the Mater Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe (formerly of Farnbeg, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon) and her parents Peter and Nora. Rita will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Susan and Peggy, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Removal from the Mater Hospital on Tuesday 16th January after prayers at 3pm, to arrive at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown for 7pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday 17th January at 11am, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Strokestown.

Mary Cummins (née O’Connor)
Rahandrick, Ballacolla, Laois, R32 NF88

Mary Cummins (née O’Connor) Rahandrick, Ballacolla, Co. Laois, January 12th. 2024, peacefully at Waterford Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband John and her parents Andrew and Sarah.

Sadly missed by her loving family Joanne, Karen, John and Ray, daughter-in-law Fiona, brother and sisters Geraldine, Andrew and Bridget, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence (Eircode R32 NF88) on Monday evening January 15th. from 4 o’clock pausing for prayers at 7.30. Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Canice’s Church, Clough arriving for Requiem mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in Bordwell Cemetery.

Olivia (Olive) Cheasty
Briarwood Gardens, Blanchardstown, Dublin/Laois

Formerly Kilshane Cross. Peacefully at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband John and son John Jr.

Olive will be very sadly missed by her daughters Frances, Margaret & Edel, sons Geoffrey, Edmund, Declan & Pat, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at St. Joseph’s Chapel of Rest, Old Johnstown, Navan, Meath (C15 C425) on Tuesday from 5 pm to 7 pm. Removal Wednesday morning to arrive to St. Abban’s Church, Doonane, Crettyard, Co. Laois, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Olivia’s Family would like to thank the staff at Benevan Nursing Home, Glasnevin, for taking care of Olivia with great kindness and affection throughout the course of her time with them.

Sheila Prone (née Brady)
Woodgrove, Portlaoise, Laois/Ballyfermot, Dublin

Sheila Prone (nee Brady) Woodgrove . Portlaoise and late of Ballyfermot. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 13th January 2024.

Beloved wife of the late Freddy. Loving mother to Vincent and Siobhan. Cherished grandmother to Eamonn, Ciara, Darragh, Colm, Aedan, and Niamh. Jack and Sarah.

Great grandson, Callum. Deeply regretted by her son in law Peter, daughter in law Caroline and Grandchildren’s partners, sister-in-law Joan, Husband Mattie and children Margaret, Alan, Paul and Karen. Niece Annette and husband Eoin and their children Mark, Adam and Dermot. All her relatives and friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home Portlaoise on Tuesday evening from 6.30 till 8 pm. Removal on Wednesday to SS Peter and Pauls Church for 12 noon requiem mass. Cremation will follow in Newlands at 2.30 pm. Family flowers only , donations if desired to The Cuisle Centre

Peacefully in Portlaoise Hospital. Pre-deceased by his wife Eva. Loving father of Hilda (Gerry), Sylvia (David), Jean (Frank), Victor and Robert (Sharon). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, grandchildren, Karl, Andrea, Lynda, Rebekah, Naomi, William, Zach, Sarah, Victoria and Eleanor, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Rebecca, nephews, nieces, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing in O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home Rathdowney on Sunday 14th January at 4 pm concluding with prayers at 7 pm. Funeral Service on Monday 15th January in St Andrew’s Church, Church of Ireland, Rathdowney at 1 pm followed by burial in Annatrim Burial Ground, Coolrain.

A recording of the Funeral Service will be available to view after 5 pm on Monday.

Robert St. Leger, Cappalahan, Knock, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. January 12th. 2024 (peacefully) at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by his brothers John and Joseph (Joe), sisters in law Merlyn (nee Howard) and Alice (nee Claxton), brother in law Arthur (Culbert).

Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his loving sister Mary (Culbert), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, very good neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Cappalahan this Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 13th. and 14th.) Funeral cortège leaving Cappalahan this Monday afternoon (Jan. 15th.) at 2.10pm, at walking pace, to arrive at Christ Church, Corbally, Roscrea (Eircode E53 KF64), for Funeral Service at 2.30pm, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Orla Cashen
Stillorgan, Dublin/Dublin City, Dublin/Portlaoise, Laois

Orla Cashen of Stillorgan, Dublin City and Portlaoise, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, 4th January 2024, in the loving arms of her daughter and in the kind and compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at The Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her heartbroken daughter Aoife, by her doting grandson Adam, brother Ken, partner Eugene and by her extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Orla’s Life will take place on Wednesday (Jan.17) at 2.30pm in Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray. Donations, in memory of Orla, to Friends of The Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore. The family request that those attending the funeral wear colourful clothing.

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Gorman (née Dunne)

The death has occurred of Elizabeth (Lizzie) Gorman (née Dunne), Drumnabehy, Rosenallis, Laois, and Wolfe Tone Court, Mountmellick, Laois. Died peacefully in the gentle care of the nurses and staff of Oakdale Nursing Home, Portarlington.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, and brothers Bill, Jack, Charlie, Har, and Nick.

Deeply regretted by her son Gerry, her sister Bridie, brother Bernie, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, her many friends, and wonderful neighbours.

Reposing at her son Gerry’s house, on Monday 15th January from 2pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis, for Requiem Mass at 12pm, followed by burial in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Rosenallis.

Reddy, Christopher (Chris), 11th January 2024, (late of Foxburrow, Portlaoise and formerly Neagh Road, Terenure), peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the kind care of the staff in Portlaoise Hospital.

Beloved husband and best friend of Mary, much-loved dad to Maureen, Thomas, Christopher, Orla and James, adored granddad to Meghan, Dylan, Charlie, Darragh and Logan.

Chris will be forever loved and very sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, daughters-in-law Gemma and Leanne, sister Theresa, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Eamonn, also known as Ned (Edward) Bambrick, Bawn, Stradbally, Laois. Peacefully, on the 9th of January, surrounded by his family, at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by his sons, Brendan and John Joe.

Bridget (Bridie) Nicholson (née Higgins)

The death has occurred of Bridget (Bridie) Nicholson (nee Higgins) 28 Margaret Road, Headington, Oxford and formerly of The Knocks, Ballyfin, Co. Laois. Died peacefully, in the presence of her devoted husband Sean. Beloved sister to Annie and the late Kathleen and brother PJ.
Deeply regretted by her beloved husband Sean, daughter Paula sons Gabriel and Alan, sister Annie (Carroll) St.Josephs Tce. Mountmellick, son-in-law Cliff, daughters in law Joan and Mandy, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13th, from 9.30am until removal at 10.15am to St. Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after Mass in St. Fintan’s Cemetery.

Derrydavy, Mountmellick, Laois

David McDonald Derrydavy, Mountmellick, Co. Laois, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the care of the nurses and doctors in Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand. Sadly missed by his loving partner Flavio Villani and his devastated parents Peter and Elsie. Adored by his sisters Anna, Lizzie and Orla. His beloved nephews Billy and Jack and niece Lucy. Sadly missed by his bothers – in – laws John Ryan, John Kirwan and Gary Guilfoyle, his aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and vast circle of friends.
