Laois U-20 hurlers name 34-player panel ahead of 2024 championship season

Laois U-20 hurling manager Damien Carter has named a 32-player panel to take part in the upcoming Leinster hurling championship.

In terms of representation, Camross and The Harps lead the way with six players each.

A total of 12 clubs are represented with Clough-Ballacolla next with five and Castletown having four.

Ballinakill have three while Abbeyleix, Park-Ratheniska-Timahoe and Rosenallis have two each.

Rathdowney-Errill, Borris-Kilcotton, Slieve Bloom and Portlaoise complete the selection.

The side has a great deal of experience with 18 players from last year’s panel back once again.

Cody Comerford, Colin Byrne, Cormac Hogan, Joe Pearson, Tommy Brennan, Bobby Murphy, Ciaran Flynn, Rory Dunne, Cathal Cuddy, James Cuddy, Eoghan Cuddy, Tom Cuddy, Jer Quinlan, Ryan Quinlan, Brian Duggan, Aaron Phelan, Jack Breen and Brochan O’Reilly are all available again.

Currently, four members of the squad are active members of the senior panel.

Tom Cuddy, Jer Quinlan, Aaron Phelan and Cody Comerford are set to be very busy over the next couple of months as they are parts of both teams.

Laois have been drawn in Tier 1 of the Leinster hurling championship and will begin at home to Kilkenny on April 6.

They are then away to Wexford on April 13 with the outcome of those games determining their next phase.

If they finish bottom, they will play in a Preliminary quarter final against someone from Tier 2 on April 27.

Second place secures a quarter final on May 8 with top spot sending them straight through to the semi finals on May 15.

The final is currently scheduled for May 22.
