In Pictures: All smiles as Grandparents’ Day in Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix a big success

Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix were delighted to host Grandparents’ Day as part of Catholic School’s Week recently.

It was heartening to see the numbers in attendance increase again on last year.

The children were excited to see the faces of their loved ones arrive for the prayer service, lead by Fr Paddy Byrne.

The grandparents were equally thrilled to see the children in their school environment, beaming with pride at the sight of their beloveds.

The love in the air was palpable and Mrs Slevin, school principal, commented that it is her favourite day in the school calendar as the school opens its doors to the community.

Both Mrs Slevin and Fr Paddy commented on the importance of grandparents in children’s lives as they pass down tradition and culture to the next generation.

Grandparents and special friends who could not be present were celebrated and remembered on the beautiful Tree of Remembrance.

Indeed the hall was colourfully decorated with the children’s art and poetry all reflecting the theme of Grandparents.
