Laois County Council agree to sell four sites in Ballyroan for €120,000

Laois County Council General

The January meeting of Laois County Council saw the sale of eleven Council sites across the county, delivered under Section 183 of the Local Government Act 2001.

This list included four sites in the Ballyroan area.

All four sites were sold for €30,000 each, returning €120,000 in total.

Irene and John Finnegan, Glenbrook, Ballyroan purchased 0.198 acres in the townland of Ballyroan.

Conor O’Dea, Abbeyleix Road, Ballyroan also purchased 0.198 acres in the townland of Ballyroan.

Amie Dooley, Summerhill Lane, Portlaoise purchased 0.195 acres in the townland of Ballyroan.

And 0.195 acres in the townland of Ballyroan were also sold to Luisa and Edward O’Neill, Ridge Road, Portlaoise.

The new owners must apply for planning within three months of purchase date.

They must then begin construction within 12 months of planning approval.

If this is not adhered to, the site goes back to the Council.

“It’s a great location for sites,” local Fine Gael Cllr Barry Walsh said.

“And they have a good start, as sites are fully serviced with water, power, and waste services at the front of each site.

“As well as that, the sites are close to a shop, a school, sporting and recreational facilities, and access to public transport.”
