Daniel (Dan) Bergin, Garron, Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois, February 8th, 2024, suddenly and peacefully, at home, in his 89th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Gemma, his brother Seán and his sister Judy.

Sadly missed by his heartbroken children, Mary, John, Edel, Julie and Joe, sons-in-law Paul and Ciaràn, his daughters-in-law Linda and Kate, his adoring grandchildren Caoilinn, Tara, Adam, Sylvie and Camille, his dear sister Betty, and also Canice and Helen, his sister-in-law Betty, his many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney, on Sunday evening, February 11th, from 6 o’clock, pausing for prayers at 8 o’clock.

Removal on Monday morning, February 12th, to St Canice’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment afterwards in Killasmeestia Churchyard. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to a charity of your choice.


Tom Lalor
Portlaoise Road, Mountrath, Laois/Shanahoe, Laois

Tom Lalor, Portlaoise Road, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died 8th February 2024, unexpectedly at his home.

Predeceased by his wife Peg, parents Daniel and Alice, brother Paddy, sisters Brigid (Dunne), Mary (Bergin), Kathleen (Wall), Alice (Lalor), and Teresa (Cleere). Deeply regretted by his brother Donal and sister Annie (Kirwan, Boley), nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath on Saturday evening (February 10th) from 6.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock.

Removal on Sunday morning (February 11th) to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath (eircode R32X338), for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m., followed by Burial in St. Brigid’s Cemetery Shanahoe.

Gaye Martin
Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois/Ballyfermot, Dublin

Gaye Martin. The Green, Kilminchy, Portlaoise and formerly Ballyfermot, Dublin. Died February 8th.

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Nicola and Lucy, sons Andrew and John, sister Joy, brothers Stew and Tossy, sons in law, daughters in law, her 12 adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm.

Removal on Monday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 noon requiem mass. Cremation will take place on Tuesday at 11 am in Newlands Cross Crematorium and will be streamed on https://www.dctrust.ie/location/newlands-cross/chapel-webstream.html

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to the Irish Cancer Society night nurses. The family ask for bright colours to be worn to celebrate Gaye’s bright and colourful life.

Paddy Dalton, John Square, Portlaoise. February 7th 2024. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his loving sister Catherine Young, brother in law Bobby, sister in law Ann, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephew, relatives, neighbours, friends and former colleagues in An Post.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:30pm till 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm. Removal on Friday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment will take place afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.


Peggy Hyland (née Whelan)

Peggy (Margaret) Hyland (nee Whelan) Mosse Lane Dublin Rd., Portlaoise. February 7th 2024. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. In the tender care of the staff of Shaen Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Bob. Dearly loved mother to Mark and Ger.

Cherished grandmother to Tara, Bobby, Aaron, Talitha, Leo and Theo, daughters in law Valerie and Yvonne. Deeply regretted by her sister Julia, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and neighbours.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6.30pm till 8 pm. Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Saturday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church to arrive for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment will take place afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise. House private please.


Elizabeth (Eilish) Proctor (née Murray)
Bellair, Clonaslee, Laois

Elizabeth (Eilish) Proctor, London, and formerly of Bellair, Clonaslee, Co. Laois. Died the 11th of January 2024. Predeceased by her husband Benjamin Herbert (Barney) Proctor.

Eilish will be very sadly missed by her loving son Colin, her grandchildren Albie and Kaelagh, her sister Josie, her brother Seamus, brother-in-law Tommy, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at O’Reilly’s Funeral Home, Harbour Street, Tullamore on Thursday evening from 7pm with Rosary at 8pm.

Funeral Mass on Friday at 12 noon in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, with burial afterwards in St. Manman’s Cemetery, Clonaslee. Eilish’s Funeral Mass can be viewed on www.churchmedia.tv by selecting County Laois.


Eleanor Marjorie Sarah (Sally) Gibbs (née Dobbs)
Bellmount, Cullohill, Laois

Passed peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late David and much loved mother of Lucinda, William and Alexander. Sadly missed by her children, son in law and daughters in law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other family and many friends in Ireland and overseas.

Funeral cortege will arrive at St Michael and all Angels Church of Ireland, Tullyroe, Abbeyleix (R32 AW62), on Monday, 12th February 2024, for funeral service at 12 noon. Formerly of Castle Troy Halting Site.

Died peacefully at The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, surrounded by her loving family.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband John, her two daughters, five sons, grand children, three sisters and one brother, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing in Moloney’s Funeral Home on Thursday 5pm with Rosary at 6.30pm. Funeral mass on Friday morning at 11am in St Joseph’s Church, Mountmellick followed by burial in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Mountmellick. Please leave message of condolences below.
